Did you think spas were all about lazing around, doing very little and making yourself pretty? They don’t have to be! There’s no reason why you can’t make your spa breaks the starting point of your new fitness regimen, or weight loss plan
If you’ve got big goals, like running a marathon, or simply want to look good on the beach this summer, now’s the time to start planning, and a fitness or weight loss spa can be the ideal place to start. Not only can you get access to amazing gyms, experienced trainers, and great food but also enjoy all the traditional beautifying and relaxing elements of a spa break.
That means that instead of returning home exhausted, worn out and slightly hungry, like you’d expect from a weekend spent training, you’ll be heading home feeling attractive, inspired and relaxed. Here’s how to plan the perfect fitness spa retreat.
Train, Diet and Explore
One of the best elements of kicking off your fitness or weight loss plan on a retreat is that you get to do it all somewhere beautiful or exciting. Imagine standing in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape, or having a quick break from the exercise to go shopping in an awesome city. That’ll take the sting out of all that hard work and strict diet.
The UK has so much to offer in terms of amazing destinations too. In terms of cities, you’ve got London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Chester, Edinburgh, Dublin and a ton of others, all with their own amazing attributes, museums, shopping opportunities, theatre, concerts, cocktail bars, restaurants and tons of culture. Edinburgh actually came very high on the list of top cities to visit world-wide.
Then you’ve got spa breaks Scotland and Wales. You’ve also got more rural areas, and we’ve got some awesome options there too. From the sweeping moors of Yorkshire, to the wind-swept plateaus of the highlands, to the near-tropical beaches of Cornwall, and all the rolling meadowland and woodlands in between, there’s a lot of great options out there.
Choosing the Right Location for You
Once you’ve got a selection of great weight loss or fitness orientated spa breaks lined up in front of you, you’ve got to choose the ones in the perfect location for you and what you want to do.
Want some culture? Some shopping? Some low-calorie cocktails? You need to go for a city break, and cities have a lot to offer when it comes to physical activities. I’m talking indoor climbing, swimming, Manchester has indoor skiing, snowboarding and skydiving! Cities can offer a lot when it comes to physical activities to help you grow those biceps or shed those pounds.
With the rural destinations in mind, there’s always hiking, jogging, and mountain climbing. If you’re near the sea, there are absolutely tons of water-based sports you can do in the UK, from surfing, to kayaking.
A fitness spa break doesn’t have to break the bank either, you can find tons of budget options online, allowing for a super cheap getaway that helps you get into the shape you want to be in.
