We’re currently enjoying something of a heatwave across the UK, and after such a long, protracted and miserable winter, replete with endless grey, bland days, a bit of warmth and a hint of summer is much needed for most of the UK.
But what’s the best use for a brief respite from the typical grim weather? A quick barbeque? A bit of sunbathing? No! It’s time for a rural spa break getaway.
We Don’t Get Too Much Sun!
Here in the UK, we’re lucky if we get a couple weeks of decent sun a year. In a lot of the country, especially the North, you get three months of relative warmth, two weeks of sun, and nine long months of grey and rainy. That means that when the good weather does strike, it’s time to make the most of it.
Sure, you could take that to mean having a couple barbeques, some lying around in the garden, maybe a trip to the beach. However, the best use of this sun is always going to be a trip to one of the UK’s many gorgeous areas of natural beauty, exploring some of the amazing scenery and doing some fun outdoor sports and activities.
Combine that with a rural spa getaway to ease away the aches from all that hiking and you’ve got the perfect use for the hot weather.
So Many Different Kinds of Spa
Across the country, there’s an amazing array of different spa options and themes to go check out and enjoy. There’s no need to stick with the original beautification and relaxation theme if that’s not your thing. There are many, many more options than just that:
Manly Spas – Contradiction in terms, right? Wrong! Spas catering more and more towards men are getting more common, which makes sense because men are steadily catching onto the great time which is a quality spa getaway.
Adventurous and Sporty Spas – Perfect for the nice weather, right? If you’re into a bit more outdoorsy, hiking, swimming, climbing, etc. there’s no reason why you won’t be able to find the perfect spa deal for you.
Weight-Loss and Fitness Spas – If you’re wanting to get into slightly better shape for the summer ahead, a weight-loss or fitness spa could be exactly what you’re looking for to kick-start your transformation. If you just don’t know where to start, or you’re having a hard time getting moving, this could be perfect for you.
Spiritual or Relaxation Spas – For the more yoga, meditation and relaxation type people, there’s no need for you to bother with anything else! You can find some really amazing spas out there catering especially towards these kinds of things, with yoga lessons and the like available.
In short, if you’re fancying a spa getaway, there’s no need to settle, you can always find an option that really suits you and your tastes and interests.
So Much to Explore
We’re so lucky in the UK to have such a wild abundance of amazing rural areas to explore. From the feral beauty of the sweeping Yorkshire moors, perfect for hiking and trekking, to the mountainous highlands of bucolic Scotland, ideal for mountaineering and climbing, all the way down to the near-tropical beaches of Cornwall, just what you need if you’re a surfer or into kayaking.
If there’s a part of the country you’ve yet to explore, you need to get onto it while the good weather lasts. On the other hand, if you think you’ve seen it all and done everything, I guarantee you’ll be able to find somewhere else to explore.
So Much to do Outside
Beyond all the brilliant scenery, there’s also a lot of different sports and activities to get involved in. Across the UK, these include mountaineering, climbing, surfing, hiking and tons of water sports, you’ll find most outdoor hobbies well-catered for, including some that you didn’t think you could do here (try some indoor Skiing in Manchester!).
Stick to a Budget
With all that choice, adventure and excitement waiting, there’s only one last worry to consider. When it comes to spa getaways, there’s always this concern that they’re going to be super expensive, because they’re viewed as something of a luxury option.
This doesn’t have to be the case. If you’re careful and clever about it, making use of coupon, voucher and deal sites, while booking well in advance, you can get a fantastic deal on a getaway. Last minute can also be perfect if you’re looking to take advantage of the short-term sunny weather.
